Karnataka officially launched a value-added application Mobile One in the IT capital of India, Bengaluru, on Monday, 8 December.
This feature-rich Mobile One app, initiated under the ambitious ICARE program by Centre for e-Governance, Government of Karnataka. It reportedly brings 4,000+ services right to the citizens' fingertips.
People can access various services at all time and throughout the year. They can book railway and government transport bus tickets, pay property tax and utility bills (electricity, water, phone etc..), file income tax, apply driving license, file m-passport and more making it the country's and also the world's largest multi-mode mobile governance platform.
This unified mobile platform will enable services to citizens from both the government and private sector, reported Business Standard.
Karnataka Mobile One can be availed on any phone through integrated voice response, SMS and other apps so that people can access the service with a feature phone as well. Interested people can register at the official Karnataka Mobile One webpage [HERE].
Service Categories of Mobile One include:
Utilities: Users can pay bills of electricity and water supply companies' right from the smartphone.
Police: Access city police, traffic police and crime records bureau services. Maintenance of public order, prevention and detection of crime, and management of traffic by Bengaluru City Police has been made available via Mobile One platform.
Healthcare: People can choose the best healthcare services available in the vicinity. Users can find and connect with verified health care providers, book appointments, find blood banks, labs and pharmacies and access maternal and child care solutions.
Travel: Plan your travel and stay. Users can book bus or train tickets and holiday packages.
Transport: Multiple citizen-centric services like RTO services, BMTC services, cab booking and Metro Rail (BMRCL) smart-card recharge can be accessed through this platform.
Telecommunication: People can pay phone bills. Not just state-run firms like BSNL and MTNL, citizens can even pay bills of private players like Airtel, Aircel, Loop, Idea, Reliance CDMA/GSM, TATA CDMA/DOCOMO, Uninor, Videocon and Vodafone as well.
Taxes: Citizens can file income tax returns and also property taxes.
Agriculture: Once installed, farmers can avail free SMS alerts on commodity prices and weather. Farmers can also receive help preparing a nutrient or pesticide plan for their crop.
Education: Students and their parents can check public examination results, and also apply for re-totaling and re-valuations of subjects.
