25 passengers were killed after a private bus fell into a canal in the Mandya district of Karnataka on Saturday afternoon, November 24.
The bus fell on its side and immediately submerged into the canal, making it difficult for the passengers to escape. Reports claim that there were at least 30-35 passengers on board at the time of the accident.
The farmworkers in the locality rushed to the spot and helped in the rescue operations. They started pulling out the bodies from the canal, one among them was a child.
They also tried using ropes to get the bus out of the canal, reports ANI.
According to an NDTV report, the police say that the bus driver lost control of the vehicle which resulted in the bus to fall into the canal.
