A 24-year-old woman was allegedly gangraped by six men on Saturday night in Kanakapura taluk, located around 80 km away from Karnataka's capital city Bengaluru.
The incident took place at Doddalahalli Lake bund in Sathanur police limits of Kanakapura taluk in Ramanagara district.
Two men – the victim's roommate Manjunath and his friend Naga – lured the woman, a resident of Kengeri, with money and convinced her to come along with them in their car, and then drove towards Ramanagara district.
Later, they called four more men who joind the duo near NICE Road. They then drove the girl to a desolated place near Doddalahalli Lake and took turns to rape her, The New Indian Express reported.
The six accused fled the scene after dumping the woman on the roadside.
She was found by auto drivers who informed the police control room. After arriving at the crime spot, the police sent the victim to a government hospital for check-up.
The police have registered a complaint against the accsued and have launched a manhunt to find Manjunath and Naga. The other four have accused have not been identified as yet.
The victim lived in Davangere, but after separation from her husband a few years ago, moved to Bengaluru in search of a job. She was working as a daily wage earner and was staying with Manjunath at Alamane Quarters in Kengeri.
