After a series of accusations hurled at each other, Karisma Kapoor and her estranged industrialist husband Sunjay Kapur finally made the last attempt to settle their messy divorce battle and came to an agreement on the modalities of their separation.
The modalities are being finalised in the Supreme Court (SC) Friday. According to the agreement, the estranged couple's children, Samaira and Kiaan, will stay with Karisma while Sunjay will get visiting rights, the Times of India reports. Karisma will reportedly withdraw within two weeks the domestic violence case lodged by her against her husband and mother-in-law.
"Sanjay Kapoor purchased bonds of Rs 14 crores for children- Monthly interest of Rs 10 lakh from bonds for expenses of children," ANI tweeted. "Mumbai house of Sanjay Kapoor's father has been transferred in the name of Karisma Kapoor," ANI tweeted.
Earlier, the court had asked the duo to explore the possibility of a settlement and sort out their matrimonial dispute amicably.
Karisma and Sunjay tied the knot in 2003 but after a few years, rumours of their marriage falling apart started doing the rounds. In 2010, Karisma moved out of Sunjay's house and started living separately. In 2014, the two decided to file for divorce on the grounds of mutual consent, but later Karisma withdrew her consent after difference cropped up over financial issues. The couple then filed for a fresh divorce petition in a family court in Mumbai.
However, in January, Sunjay had filed a petition accusing Karisma of marrying him for money and said that she had failed as a wife, mother and daughter-in-law. In his statement, Sunjay accused Karisma of choosing her career over him and also cheating on him. Karisma, on her part, had filed a harassment and cruelty case with the Khar police against Sunjay and her mother-in-law Rani Surinder Kapur.
