Biopics on legendary sportsmen have become a sort of recent trend in Bollywood, and the latest to grab the news is a film on former Indian cricket captain Mohammad Azharuddin.
The movie, produced by Balaji Telefilms head honcho Ekta Kapoor, has Emraan Hashmi portraying the role of the cricketer on-screen.
The buzz is that Kareena Kapoor Khan has been approached to play Azharuddin's ex-wife Sangeeta Bijlani, reports The Times of India.
Interestingly, Kareena is a good friend of Salman Khan, who is allegedly Bijlani's ex-boyfriend. In fact, the beauty queen was Salman's first love and is believed to be still close to his family.
Salman and Bijlani dated for several years during the actor's initial career days till she married the former cricket captain in 1996. However, in July 2010, the model-actress parted ways with Azharuddin, after his alleged involvement with badminton star Jwala Gutta.
It is said that the "Singham Returns" actress is yet to go through the script before she gives her nod to it.
However, if the deal is signed this would be the first time Hashmi and Kareena will be paired on-screen. And with B-town's serial kisser Hashmi paired opposite gorgeous Kareena, one can expect some steamy scenes between the on-screen couple.
There were also reports that the "Ungli" actor has started his cricket training sessions under the supervision of none other than Azharuddin himself.
The biopic is expected to go on the floors by next year and will be directed by Anthony D'Souza of "Boss" fame. Earlier, Kunal Deshmukh was supposed to helm the project but he left the film due to some unknown reasons.
Meanwhile, Kareena is busy shooting for Kabir Khan opposite "Kick" star Salman.
