Bollywood star Kareena Kapoor, who is fondly called "Bebo" by her fans, is celebrating her 33rd birthday with husband Saif Ali Khan in London on Saturday.
It was not easy to get out of the shadows of the big names in her family, and it took a few films for the actress to make her presence felt in Bollywood. Kareena had a disappointing start to her film career but there was no stopping after Santosh Sivan's "Asoka" opposite Shah Rukh Khan.
And it seems like life begins at 33 for this talented actress, as she continues to get big film projects despite being married, which is rare in Bollywood.
Bebo was born on 21 September, 1980, to celebrity couple Randhir Kapoor and Babita. She followed the footsteps of her parents and her sister Karisma Kapoor, who was already an established actress then.
Though, Kareena began her acting career on a disappointing note with the debut film, "Refugee" followed by "Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai" and "Yaadein" failing at the box office.
Just when the chips were down, Santosh Sivan's fictional historic drama, "Asoka" happened. Kareena's journey to success began and she worked in many critically acclaimed films like "Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham", "Chameli", "Omkara", "Jab We Met", "3 Idiots", "Bodyguard", and "Heroine".
Her love life was not as rosy as the ones in her films with her three-year relationship with actor Shahid Kapoor coming to an end.
However, it did not take her long to find the man of her life. Kareena married her boyfriend and actor Saif Ali Khan on 16 October, 2012.
Many might have written her off after she tied the knot, thinking that she would vanish like her predecessors, including her sister Karisma, but Bebo did not want the fame to go. She was seen in Prakash Jha's latest "Satyagraha", which also featured Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgn, and Arjun Rampal in the lead roles.
Fans can see the diva again on screens this year in Punit Malhotra's "Gori Tere Pyaar Mein", where she acts opposite Imran Khan. The film is scheduled to release in November.
Next year, Kareena will be seen opposite "Krrish 3" actor Hrithik Roshan in Karan Johar's "Shuddhi". Looks like Kareena can still look forward to a long and rewarding career in the film industry.
