The Indian smartphone market, since the start of the year, is witnessing a surge in low-cost quad-core smartphone releases by domestic manufacturers, giving MNCs a run for their money.
A few days ago, another local player, Zen Mobiles, joined the race by launching the Ultrafone 701 HD in the lucrative Indian low-cost smartphone market ruled by Micromax, Karbonn, and other MNCs.
Even though it packs an impressive camera and a low-cost price-tag, the device will still be a daunting task for Zen Mobiles to reach the heights of Micromax A116 Canvas HD's popularity. Despite this, the Ultrafone 701 HD smartphone may have a chance to outdo the second most popular Indian smartphone Karbonn Titanium S5.
Here is brief comparison of main specs between Karbonn Titanium S5 and Zen Ultrafone 701 HD:
Display:
Karbonn Titanium S5 sports a 5.0-inch LCD qHD display IPS (In-Plane Switching) technology with 540x960p resolution and 220 ppi. Zen Ultrafone 701 HD features a much impressive 5.0-inch HD IPS display with 1280x720p resolution.
Processor:
In terms of power, Titanium S5 and Ultrafone 701 HD stand even as they both pack quad-core processors with the same 1.2GHz CPU speed. But the only difference is that the Karbonn smartphone packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon based chipset, while the Zen handset comes with a MediaTek processor.
Camera:
Karbonn flagship smartphone sports an 8.0-megapixel rear-side camera with flash support and auto focus plus a 2.0-megapixel front camera.
Zen Ultrafone 701 HD too houses an 8.0-megapixel main camera with flash support, auto-focus and scores more with an impressive 3.2-megapixel camera on the front side.
Mobile Operating System:
In this aspect, Karbonn Titanium S5 and Ultrafone 701 HD share equal points as they both run on the popular and ubiquitous Android mobile OS Jelly Bean.
Zen's smartphone runs on the latest Jelly Bean OS v4.2 out-of-the-box, whereas Karbonn handset features Jelly Bean OS v4.1.2. The difference in OS version is negligible as the new update only increases performance by a small margin.
In terms of add-ons such as RAM, memory storage, battery capacity, network and data connectivity, all smartphones in the market have more or less the same features. Karbonn and Zen Handsets are no different as well.
Price:
The question of their prices playing a role on the buyer's mind can be ruled out as both smartphones have a very small difference in this aspect. According to recent reports, Karbonn Titanium S5 is priced ₹11,900, whereas Zen Ultrafone 701 HD holds a price-tag of ₹11,999.
Both the smartphones, Karbonn Titanium S5 and Zen Ultrafone 701 HD, have the potential to curtail the profits of their Indian counterpart Micromax, which is currently facing a short supply of A116 canvas HD in the market.
