The Indian smartphone market, since the start of the year, is witnessing a surge in low-cost quad-core smartphone releases by domestic manufacturers, giving MNCs a run for their money.

A few days ago, another local player, Zen Mobiles, joined the race by launching the Ultrafone 701 HD in the lucrative Indian low-cost smartphone market ruled by Micromax, Karbonn, and other MNCs.

Even though it packs an impressive camera and a low-cost price-tag, the device will still be a daunting task for Zen Mobiles to reach the heights of Micromax A116 Canvas HD's popularity. Despite this, the Ultrafone 701 HD smartphone may have a chance to outdo the second most popular Indian smartphone Karbonn Titanium S5.

The question of their prices playing a role on the buyer's mind can be ruled out as both smartphones have a very small difference in this aspect. According to recent reports, Karbonn Titanium S5 is priced  ₹11,900, whereas Zen Ultrafone 701 HD holds a price-tag of ₹11,999.

Both the smartphones, Karbonn Titanium S5 and Zen Ultrafone 701 HD, have the potential to curtail the profits of their Indian counterpart Micromax, which is currently facing a short supply of A116 canvas HD in the market.
