Ace filmmaker Karan Johar is reportedly set to make his acting debut in Ranbir Kapoor-Anushka Sharma starrer "Bombay Velvet".
According to reports, the 40-year-old filmmaker will be playing a crucial role in the film. He will also be doing a cameo in another film "Hasee Toh Phasee," which stars Parineeti Chopra and "Student of the Year" fame Sidharth Malhotra.
"Hasee Toh Phasee" will be directed by Vinil Mathew and jointly produced by Anurag Kashyap and KJo himself. Details of Karan's role in the film have not been revealed yet.
Reports said that Karan, who has donned the role of director, producer, television host, designer, dance reality show judge, will be playing a grey character in "Bombay Velvet".
"Bombay Velvet", which will be directed by Anurag Kashyap, is a thriller based on some real incidents that occurred in Mumbai between 1950s and 1970s. The film will go on floors in July.
Giving a brief of Karan's role in the film a source said, "Karan suits the character of Khambata as he's got the sophisticated personality required to play a Parsi industrialist," The Times of India reported.
"Karan's and the leading man of the film, Ranbir's characters are in direct conflict with each other and this is reportedly one of the major highlights," the source added.
Rumours have been doing the rounds about his cameo and debut as an actor, but Karan is yet to make any comments on the same.
Earlier, Karan made his first cameo in blockbuster "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge" in which he played Shah Rukh Khan's friend. Later, he made guest appearances in a number of films like "Main Hoon Na", "Om Shanti Om", "Fashion" and "Luck By Chance".
