Television actress Kanika Maheshwari, who plays the role of Meenakshi bhabhi on "Diya Aur Baati Hum," will soon be seen on "The Kapil Sharma Show." The actress will reportedly play the role of a sexy bhabhi, which was earlier offered to Shilpa Shinde.
"The actress will be playing a sexy bhabhi in the show and she is expected to start shooting soon. This role was earlier offered to Shilpa Shinde, but since she was involved in a tussle with the producers of 'Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain' over the clauses of her contract, the makers of TKSS didn't get her on board. But since the show has become quite popular, the makers are getting new characters, and Kanika fitted the show," a source told the Times of India.
The actress will start shooting for the comedy show in the next few days. Elated to join the popular show, Kanika said: "It's going to be a very good role. I can't talk much about the character since the details are still being worked out."
A few months ago, there were reports that Kanika, who had been associated with "Diya Aur Baati Hum" for the past five years, was mulling over quitting the show as she wanted to take up other projects. However, Kanika refuted the rumours, claiming that she will continue to be a part of "Diya Aur Baati Hum" till the time the show is on air.
Meanwhile, Debina Bonnerjee joined "The Kapil Sharma Show" as Kiku Sharda's wife on the show. Debina, who rose to fame with "Ramayan," was also seen on "Chidiya Ghar," "Yam Hain Hum" among others. Another actress, Manju Sharma, also joined the team of "The Kapil Sharma Show" as Chandan Prabhakar's wife Thandai Devi.
"The Kapil Sharma Show" has become the top show in the non-fictional category in the Television Rating Points (TRP) charts in week 25 of 2016.
