It seems like American rapper Kanye West is following in pop singer Justin Bieber's footsteps, at least when it comes to hiring a manager.
According to reports, the "Famous" hit-maker has handed over the reins of his music career and clothing line to Scooter Braun, the man who was responsible for Beiber's initial rise to fame and also his recent return to popularity as a chart topper.
In an interview with Forbes, Braun confirmed the news saying: "I got to be a part of Martin Garrix and Steve Angello and Black Eyed Peas. Now I'm getting to work with people like Kanye West. [sic]" Braun will be co-managing West's career alongside Izzy Zivkovic, the rapper's manager for many years.
Braun managing West's music career might just be one of the most sensible moves the rapper has made in the past two years. Although Braun has not been able to create as much magic with his other signees as he did with Bieber, he will definitely be needed by West given that the rapper lost millions of dollars in album sales this year due to "The Life of Pablo" not being available anywhere other than Tidal.
West recently made the album available on streaming services like Spotify, Apple Music and Google Play Music, and also put it up for sale on online platforms such as iTunes. This was definitely a move made to recover his initial losses, and it might have been influenced by Braun himself.
Now that West is working on his next album "Turbo Grafx 16," it will be interesting to see what strategies Braun comes up with to promote the record in the run-up to its release.
