Rajkumar Hirani is set to direct his next film, which is a biopic on Sanjay Dutt's life. Buzz is Ranbir Kapoor will play the lead role. Deepika Padukone and Kangana Ranaut are also rumoured to have been roped in for this flick.
However, Kangana recently cleared the air saying she was not approached for the role. "I don't want to be disrespectful to Raju sir, but the truth is I have not been been approached for this film. I am busy on Rangoon at the moment," Deccan Chronicle quoted Kangana as saying.
The report further suggests that Kangana and her team were furious to see false reports which they think are traps laid out by other actresses and their PR machinery. "Kangana feels she doesn't want to be part of the controversy, but others can't quote her and release press releases," a source told the daily.
Currently, Kangana is busy shooting for Vishal Bhardwaj's "Rangoon" along with Shahid Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan. The actress has several films lined up this year, including "Simran" (Hansal Mehta), "Lakshmi Bai" (Ketan Mehta), "Circus" (Bosco), and "Amrita" (Shekhar Kapur).
On the other hand, Hirani has finalised Ranbir for the lead role in Sanjay Dutt's biopic. It is reported that Sanjay's affair with Madhuri Dixit will not be the highlight in the biopic. The makers will focus more on Sanjay's other relationships — with his sister, wife Manyata and ex-wife Richa Sharma.
Also, if Deepika signs the film, her role will be a mix of Sanjay's ex-wife Richa and Tina Ambani. It has been speculated that Amitabh Bachchan will play the actor's father, Sunil Dutt, and Kareena Kapoor Khan will be seen as Sanjay's sister.
