Actor Varun Tej, who is basking in the success of his latest outing "Kanche", says there is no rivalry between him, Ram Charan and Allu Arjun, the third generation heroes of the mega family.
Varun Tej is two-film-old in the industry and his debut film "Mukunda" was an average grosser at the box office. His second outing "Kanche", which was released in theatres on 22 October, has received superb response from the audience, who are all praise for the young actor for choosing good script and giving a wonderful performance.
Besides giving him a big break, "Kanche" has also got him big fan following across the globe. Varun Tej admits that the Krish-directed film is a game changer for him. "It was a turning point in my career. I am only two films old but very clear about my priorities. I want to be known as an actor," Deccan Chronicle quoted the actor as saying in an interview.
Unlike other young heroes, he declined to choose a commercial movie for his debut. "That wasn't a conventional role either. I deliberately chose not to take the mainstream route. Mukunda didn't do well and I was advised to go more mainstream with my second film. But I was sure I wouldn't do a massy film at this stage of my career," he said.
Varun Tej is the son of Chiranjeevi and Pawan Kalyan's brother Nagababu. Ram Charan, Allu Arjun, Allu Sirish and Sai Dharam Tej are his cousins. Following the success of "Kanche", some in the industry speculated that he would be a potential competitor for his cousins, but he has denied it.
"All of us cousins grew up hero-worshipping my uncle (Chiranjeevi). As for Charan, he's more of a friend than a cousin. In fact, all of us second and third-generation actors from film families like Charan, Pawan Kalyan, Naga Chaitanya, Akhil Akkineni, Allu Arjun... we hang out together. We discuss each other's works quite openly. There's no rivalry among us," Varun said.
Varun Tej will be next seen in director Puri Jagannadh's upcoming movie "Maa Amma Mahalaxmi". The actor says that his third movie deals with the sentimental relationship between mother and son.
