"Kanchana 2" has earned above ₹20 crore in four days. The movie had grossed ₹17.5 crore in three days and has added more than ₹2.5 crore on Monday, 20 April. The occupancy in Chennai for the film has been 80% and above and this clearly shows that the Tamil movie is making it big at the domestic box office.
Initially, "Kanchana 2" was expected to perform well in B and C centres. But good word-of-mouth ensured that the movie attracted all sections of audience. The film has now overpowered Mani Ratnam's "Ok Kanmani" and there is a good competition between the two films at multiplexes.
The success of "Kanchana 2" is largely because of the holiday season. Family audience are turning up in large numbers, leading the film to do stupendous business.
Looking at the performance, traders have already declared that "Kanchana 2" would create history at the box office and could become one of the big hits of 2015. The movie should have a decent run for a few more days to recover its production cost.
"Kanchana 2" is directed by Raghava Lawrence himself and produced by Bellamkonda Suresh. Taapsee Pannu, Kovai Sarala, Manobala, Renuka, Sriman and others are in the cast.
