Actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan's latest movie Vishwaroopam 2 has landed in trouble after a petition was filed to stall the multilingual movie from hitting the screens.
According to several Tamil media reports, Pyramid Saimira claimed to have paid Rs 4 crore to Kamal Haasan to revive his long-pending movie Marma Yogi. The movie has not seen any progress and the Ulaganayagan has shown interest in neither starting the project nor to return their money, the company alleges.
Hence, the production house has demanded Kamal Haasan to return the money immediately with interest, which comes to Rs 5.44 crore. The production house has pleaded the court to put a stay on the film's release until the legendary actor settles the amount.
With Kamal Haasan foraying into politics, there are no hopes on its revival. Apart from Vishwaroopam 2, the actor has to complete Sabaash Naidu and Indian 2.
Vishwaroopam 2 is scheduled to hit the screens worldwide on 10 August in three languages – Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. Kamal Haasan is currently busy with the promotions of the movie.
Kamal Haasan was in Andhra Pradesh recently to promote Vishwaroopam 2 and was also guest in the Bigg Boss Telugu house. However, the actor is yet to respond to the latest issue.
Vishwaroopam 2 is an espionage thriller which is funded by Aascar Ravichandran. Rahul Bose, Pooja Kumar and Andrea Jeremiah are also part of the movie.
The first instalment was banned in Tamil Nadu for a few weeks following protests from fringe groups. Similarly, Uttama Villain had also faced issues in the last-minute of its release over financial issues.
