"Vedalam" producer AM Rathnam has finally opened up about the rumours pertaining to his possible collaboration with Kamal Haasan and Shankar for the sequel to their classic "Indian".
Speaking to Behindwoods, AM Rathnam said Kamal Haasan was keen on filming "Indian 2" even when he was busy with his multilingual movie "Hey Ram". But, they were not able to get a suitable story, hence they had to put off their plans.
Recently, AM Rathnam and Shankar had a discussion on "Indian 2". Currently, Shankar is busy with Rajinikanth's "Endhiran 2" and the dream project may take place once Shankar wraps up his forthcoming Rajinikanth starrer, claims the producer.
AM Rathnam is one of the biggest producers of Kollywood. He has made movies with most of the big names, including Kamal Haasan, Vijay, Ajith and Vikram.
The reports about "Indian 2" have often hit gossip columns, especially a few years ago, when it was learnt that the film could be made soon as it was the perfect time to make the anti-corruption movie.
"Indian" saw Kamal Haasan in dual roles (father and son). Manisha Koirala and Urmila Matondkar had played the female lead roles in the flick. An old man (Kamal) gets frustrated looking at the prevailing corruption and decides to uproot it from the system.
He takes the law in his hands and kills corrupt people. The story takes a shocking turn when his son, played by Kamal, is found to be corrupt.
Meanwhile, AM Rathnam is getting ready for the release of his next film, "Vedalam", starring Ajith and Shruthi Haasan. The Tamil movie, which has been written and directed by Siruthai Siva, will be released on 10 November for Diwali.
