Actor Kamal Haasan, who never endorsed a product in his career spanning over five decades, has now appeared in the advertisement of a brand. The 'Ulaganayagan' has become the brand ambassador of the popular textile showroom brand, Pothys, for a whopping Rs 10 crore.
Reports said that the actor will contribute the money to help people living with HIV/AIDS. He has been a United Nations ambassador on HIV/AIDS and had actively campaigned for the Tamil Nadu AIDS Control Society.
In the advertisement, the actor asks a group what makes them proud. While a few of them elaborates on what makes them proud, Kamal says there is yet another reason for Tamilians to be proud of - the Pothys silk.
With a tagline "People's Pothys", the new advertisement was released on 1 October.
Directed by actor-photographer Krishna, the one-minute commercial has been receiving positive responses from the viewers.
Kamal was last seen in Jeethu Joseph's crime thriller "Papanasam", a remake of Mohanlal's Malayalam hit film "Drishyam". He will be next seen in Rajesh M's Tamil - Telugu bilingual neo-noir crime thriller "Thoongavanam", which is expected to be released on Diwali.
