It is known that actors Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth - two of the biggest south Indian stars - are the best of friends.
Both the stars have stood by each other through difficult times. When Kamal Haasan's film "Vishwaroopam" landed in trouble, Rajinikanth stood by his friend. Kamal Haasan in turn reportedly arranged a special show for Rajini to watch "Vishwaroopam" as a gesture to thank him for his support.
Now, Kamal Haasan is all set to watch Rajini's upcoming film, "Kochadaiyaan" before its release.
According to latest reports, Rajini has asked Kamal (who has deep knowledge about cinema) to watch the film and suggest changes, if any. Rajini will decide on the release date after Kamal watches the film. A suitable date for the film's screening is arranged.
"Rajini considers Kamal Haasan to be extremely cinema literate. He respects Kamal Haasan's judgement on cinema. Since this film is crucial (for him), he has asked Kamal to view the film," a source from Chennai told IANS.
Talking about his friendship with Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan said, "I'd do anything he asks me to, no question of refusing him. Both of us were young actors who started from scratch. He was the bus conductor with acting aspirations. I was the clapper boy who got the clap in my very film (Kamal Haasan played a character with venereal disease in his first adult role)."
And here is good news for both Kamal and Rajini fans. The "Vishwaroopam" star has not ruled out the possibility of sharing screen space with the superstar. "It depends. He said if we do a film together, he won't direct it. It has to be either me or someone else. It would be quite interesting to do a film with him," Kamal told IANS.
But, it might take time before the two stars could come together on screen. As of now, Kamal has his hands full with the sequel to "Vishwaroopam" which is expected to get released this year. On the other hand, Rajinikanth is busy with "Kochadaiyaan", directed by his daughter Soundarya.
The film is being made in 3D. Recently, Rajini's new look, which was unveiled by his daughter on her twitter page, created a lot of buzz. The actor will reportedly feature in a double role of father and son in his film. While the father is Kochadaiyaan (a loyal commander to the emperor), the son is Rana.
"Kochadaiyaan" trailer will be launched at the Cannes Film festival, which is set to begin in France on 15 May. The superstar is expected to attend the launch event.
The film might get released in July, though there is no official word on it. Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone plays the female lead. The rest of the cast includes Jackie Shroff, Nassar, Aadhi and Sarath Kumar. Film's scores are composed by A R Rahman.
