Superstar Kamal Haasan, Suriya, Karthi, Vijay Television and Vijay Devarakonda have made a generous donation of Rs 80 lakh together for the flood victims of Kerala, which has been hit by heavy rainfall.
Some parts of Kerala, considered as god's own country, have been badly hit by floods, which has devastated these areas with many losing their loved ones, homes and land. Chief Minister of the state, Pinarayi Vijayan made an immediate visit to those regions and assured security all the victims.
Pinarayi Vijayan announced Rs 10 lakh for those who have lost their homes and land and Rs 4 lakh to the families who have lost a member in the calamity. He requested other people to donate for relief funds. A tweet on CMO Kerala handle read, "Saving their lives was our priority. Now it is our duty to help them rebuild it. Contribute generously to the Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund. #KeralaFloods #KeralaFloodRelief"
Responding to his request, Kamal Haasan and Vijay TV donated Rs 25 lakh each to Kerala flood relief fund. Manobala Vijayabalan, a journalist from Tamil Nadu, tweeted, "#Nammavar @ikamalhaasan & @vijaytelevision donate ₹50 lacs [₹25L each] to the Chief Ministers Distress Relief Fund Kerala. Great gesture #KeralaFloods2018 #KeralaFloodRelief #KeralaFloods."
Tamil actor Suriya Sivakumar and his brother Karthi have donated Rs 25 lakh together for Kerala flood relief. Journalist Rajasekar tweeted, "Kudos Brothers @Suriya_offl and @Karthi_Offl for donating Rs 25 lakhs for #KeralaFloodRelief fund "
Telugu actor Vijay Devarakonda tweeted, "And now I hear Kerala is reeling under floods and situation is quite bad! Kerala was my first holiday destination and has given me a lot of love for my work, I've met a lot of people from there who are some of the nicest people I know, I don't know how to reach out personally."
Later, Vijay Devarakonda announced that he has paid Rs 5 lakh for Kerala flood relief fund and he requested his fans to do the same. He tweeted, "but I am thinking of you. Rowdies, let's all pitch in small amounts and we may make a huge change to someone like us in Kerala. Here, I'll start us off with 5,00,000/- #KeralaFloodRelief (sic)"
Actor Siddharth tweeted, "#Kerala is facing great adversity in the form of floods. The people of Kerala have shown incredible strength and are helping each other deal with this calamity. We must all do our bit. Please contribute to the CM's Distress Relief Fund. Stay strong Kerala! #KeralaFloodRelief"
