Superstar Kamal Haasan has crooned a rock number for the upcoming film "Avam" directed by debutant Vijay Vilvakrish.
The song, which begins with the lines "Kaarirulae" is composed by KS Sundaramurthy and the lyrics of the song is penned by Madhan Karky.
"Kamal has sung a song in the rock genre for the upcoming film Avam. The music is by debutant Sundaramoorthy K S and the lyrics have been penned by Madhan Karky. The song is a peppy number and something every youngster can relate to. The lyrics too reflect this sentiment," a source close to the film told The Times of India.
"A lot of novel Tamil words and ideas have been used in this song. A rock song in Kamal Haasan's voice will elevate it to another level. This song required the singer to emote and express the pain, the helplessness, the guilt and frustration of the character and Kamal's voice did the magic," the source added.
The director of the film later said that he is super excited about this and called it an experience of a lifetime, which he will cherish forever. He also thanked the composer, lyrics writer and the cast and crew of the film.
"Best moment in my life. To watch and Hear #KamalHaasan sir sing a rock song for my first film. Was in transfix for few hours thanks to everyone who made this possible. Thanks a lot," posted director Vijay on his Facebook page.
The song will reportedly come at a pivotal scene in the film and the makers have assured that the song will be a great sound experience by itself.
Previously, Kamal has composed and sung songs for many of his films. He had sung for composers like G Devarajan, MB Sreenivasan, MS Viswanathan, Ilaiyaraaja, Karthik Raja, AR Rahman, Deva, Vidyasagar, Yuvan Shankar Raja, Himesh Reshammiya, Devishri Prasad and his daughter Shruthi Hassan. Last year, he sang for his film "Vishwaroopam", composed by Shankar- Ehsaan-Loy.
Meanwhile, the audio launch of "Avam" is expected to take place sometime in November. The film stars Gaurav and Kavya Shetty in the lead and is produced by VJ Productions.
