Actor Kamaal R Khan has caused controversy yet again, and this time he has been booked for making defamatory and casteist remarks about actor Dhanush in his "Raanjhanaa" video review uploaded on YouTube.
The 8.52 minute video posted on 29 July has resulted in a complaint booked under Section 66A of the IT Act. Dr Bheemrao Ambedkar Vichar Manch filed the complaint in Seema Puri Police Station, Delhi on Monday for the caste-instigated remark which was found highly offensive.
Kamaal R Khan, who is mostly known for his offensive tweets and controversies, said in the video clip, "Sir, I don't know whether you (Anand L Rai, the film's director) are from UP or not, but I am. In the whole of UP, you will find cobblers and sweepers who look like Dhanush but you will not find a single Brahmin of such dirty looks as him in entire UP."
However, the controversial comments were reportedly removed from the video and what is available is the website is an edited version of the clip which has Khan bashing up the movie.
Confirming the complaint, Police Commissioner BS Bassi said that the charges could possibly land up the troublemaker in prison. He directed cops to take immediate actions based on the complaint.
Khan, who is notorious for his abusive and offensive outbursts, has had brush with many celebrities in the past, the last major case being a twitter row with actress Sunny Leone which threatened to the extent of going legal.
The repetitive streak of misconduct and defamation had even forced the film fraternity to approach Film Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), seeking a complete ban on Khan.
