Television actress Kajol Srivastava, who was approached to play the role of Bulbul in "Kumkum Bhagya" replacing Mrunal Thakur, has opted out of the project as her entry on the show was continuously getting delayed. The actress was finalised for the role in December last year but the sequence in which she was supposed to enter the show never got executed.
Kajol will now be seen in "Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat" as Devi, India Forums reported. The report said that Devi, a kind-hearted woman, will enter Ashoka's life as the other woman and will go on to become his wife. Kajol's character is said to be promising and her relationship with the warrior will be a major highlight of the show.
"Yes, I was signed for Bulbul's character and I was waiting for it. I continued to be in touch with the production house, but later on, I decided to take up a new show. It is sad that I couldn't be a part of the show," Kajol told India Forums.
Meanwhile Mohit Raina, who will play the role of grown-up Ashoka after the leap on "Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat," recently shot for the promo. While doubts were being expressed about Mohit's success in carrying forward the legacy of Siddharth Nigam, who won hearts with his performance as the young Ashoka, the promo hints that the "Devon Ke Dev...Mahadev" actor will justify the warrior's role.
Somya Seth of "Kavya" fame will be playing the role of Ashoka's love interest Kaurwaki, currently played by Reem Sheikh. Mohit as well as the other new actors will soon start shooting for the show.
