Abhishek Kapoor's directorial movie "Kai Po Che!" had a good start on its opening day at theaters across the country. The film had an opening of around 40-45 percent occupancy in key markets.
According to trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh, the first day shows in Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Pune, Delhi-NCR, Gurgaon, Chandigarh, Kolkata, Indore, Bhopal, Jaipur and Bangalore had a good to a very good start.
But the occupancy in states like UP and Punjab were comparatively low.
"Kai Po Che!" was released across 1,000 screens in India and has received very good reviews from critics. The movie, featuring three newcomers - Sushant Singh Rajput, Raj Kumar Yadav and Amit Sadh, was praised by many in the film industry for its refreshing story content.
The film is based on Chetan Bhagat's book "The 3 Mistakes of My Life". Good reviews, pre-release promotion and Bhagat's huge fan following has helped to increase the business of the film at major centres.
In the international market, the film was released across 250 screens including US, UAE, UK, Australia and Gulf. The film has already raked in around ₹14,460 at the UAE box offices from Thursday's preview.
