Vidya Balan's Kahaani 2, which opened to an average response on December 2, has shown decent jump in its collection at the Indian box office on Saturday (second day).
Kahaani 2 was released in 1,235 screens across the country amidst huge hype and promotion, but the movie had very poor amount of advance booking for its opening day. Hence the film registered an average occupancy in the morning and afternoon shows, but it witnessed decent growth in the evening shows.
Kahaani 2 collected Rs 4.25 crore nett at the Indian box office on the first day. The movie shattered the opening day record of the first installment in the Kahaani film series, which collected Rs 2.51 crore nett at the domestic box office on the first day. Taran Adarsh tweeted: "#Kahaani2 Fri ₹ 4.25 cr [1235 screens]. India biz... Picked up in evening/night shows."
The Sujay Ghosh-directed suspense thriller movie garnered mixed response, but most of the audience and critics were impressed with its gripping narration and sterling performance by lead actors. The word of mouth took its business upwards on Satuday. Kahaani 2 showed over 36 percent growth on its second day, when compared to its opening day collection.
Kahaani 2 has collected approximately Rs 5.79 crore nett at the Indian box office on Saturday, taking its two-day dometic total collection to Rs 10.04 crore nett. Its two gross collection has reached Rs 13.30 crore. Taran Adarsh tweeted: "#Kahaani2 saw 36.24% growth on Day 2... Sun should add to a respectable total... Fri 4.25 cr, Sat 5.79 cr. Total: ₹ 10.04 cr [1235 screens]."
However, the Vidya Balan-starrer has received decent opening in the key international markets and witnessed good growth on Saturday. Kahaani 2 has collected approximately Rs 1.77 crore on Friday and Rs 2 crore on Saturday. The movie has raked in Rs 17.07 crore gross at the worldwide box office in two days.
