Vijay Sethupathi is getting ready to deliver the third hit in a row with his "Kadhalum Kadanthu Pogum" after the success of "Naanum Rowdydhaan" and "Sethupathi." The latest movie has done exceptionally well in the first weekend and holding well on the week days.
The trade reports say that "Kadhalum Kadanthu Pogum" is showing all signs of becoming a big hit at the box office. The surprising part of its story is that the Tamil movie has done well Tuesday, March 15, despite the India vs New Zealand T20 World Cup match.
"Mid Week Box-Office - #WorldT20 #IndvsNZ match took a toll on the b-o. Collections nosedived except #KadhalumKadanthuPogum remained steady," trade tracker Sreedhar Pillai said on Twitter.
The Tamil movie was released last Friday, March 11, and it opened in 327 screens. It got unanimous positive reviews from critics and the good word-of-mouth helped the movie to register a good collection in the first weekend.
In the three-day opening weekend, "Kadhalum Kadanthu Pogum" earned Rs 7.45 crore in Tamil Nadu. In fact, it broke the record of Vijay Sethupathi's previous film "Sethupathi," which collected Rs 3.5 crore in its first weekend.
The interesting part of the story is that it has done well in the U.S, the U.K, Australia and Malaysia.
"Kadhalum Kadanthu Pogum" is the remake of Korean film "My Dear Desperado." The movie tells the story of an illiterate guy falling in love with an educated girl. Madonna Sebastian has played the female lead in the movie, which is directed by Nalan Kumaraswamy.
