Karthi's Kadaikutty Singam has ended its first week on a positive note. The movie has managed to overcome negative reviews from a section of media and has done good collection in Tamil Nadu in seven days.
As per the trade reports, Kadaikutty Singam has raked in over Rs 20 crore in the first week. After raking in Rs 13.43 crore in the first weekend, the movie has added over Rs 6 crore in the next four days. In Chennai alone, it has earned a little over Rs 2.5 crore.
Like Tamizh Padam 2, the movie did not attract youths in large numbers, but it is a family audience, who have turned up in big numbers to theatres, thereby making it a successful movie in the first week at the Tamil Nadu box office.
Interestingly, Kadaikutty Singam has done well in C centres, say trade experts. A few days ago, distributor Tirupur Subramaniam had expressed his happiness over the film's collection.
"Those who did not come to cinema halls are coming to theatres which have excited the theatre owners," Tamil media quotes him as saying.
Kadaikuttu Singam is written and directed by Pandiraj and stars Sathyaraj and Sayyeshaa in the lead roles.
The makers have taken a special interest in movie promotions which is expected to boost the film's collection.
This week, no big movies have seen the light of the day which will be a boon for Kadaikutty Singam as it retains the screens.
