The teaser of Rajinikanth's "Kabali" is showing no signs of losing its popularity on YouTube as it has continued to fetch hits. In five days, the video has garnered over 1.2 crore hits with over 3.5 lakh likes and above 11,600 dislikes.
The video has been repeatedly watched by the fans of Rajinikanth and this factor has played a major role in its success. The teaser was released on May 1 on the occasion of Labour Day and nationwide holiday ensured that the clip goes viral immediately after it was released on YouTube.
Rajinikanth's strong presence, his mannerisms and one-liners in the "Kabali" teaser have got thumbs up from the audience. The video introduces his character to the viewers and gives hints about his role in the upcoming Tamil flick.
After garnering 5 lakh hits in about 25 minutes, it went on to reach 10-lakh mark in less than an hour. In 22 hours, the video got over 50 lakh viewers and crossed the 1-crore mark in 71 hours.
The teaser of "Kabali" has become the most-liked movie clip in Kollywood and it is now the highest-viewed Kollywood movie teaser on YouTube.
Two-film old Pa Ranjith has written and directed "Kabali," which is produced by Kalaippuli S Thanu. Rajinikanth plays an ageing don, who reportedly runs a school for the children affected by gang wars.
It is loosely based on the life of a gangster based in Mylapore in Chennai. Radhika Apte plays Rajinikanth's wife and Dhansika their daughter in "Kabali." Kishore, Nassar, Dinesh Ravi, John Vijay and others are in the supporting cast.
While the audio of "Kabali" is likely to hit stores by the end of the month, the movie, which will be simultaneously released in Tamil and Telugu languages, will be out either in June or July.
