Rajinikanth-starrer "Kabali" has done record-breaking pre-release business. The Tamil movie has raked in about Rs. 225 crore even before it has got released.

Trade experts had earlier predicted "Kabali" to collect about Rs. 200 crore. But the Tamil movie has performed better than expected, and earned about Rs. 225 crore.
The Tamil Nadu distribution rights have contributed a big share and fetched Rs. 68 crore for producer Kalaippuli S Thanu. Theatrical rights in Andhra Pradesh have earned Rs. 32 crore while the makers have reportedly got Rs. 17.5 crore from the sales of Kerala and Karnataka theatrical rights.
Giving an area-wise break-up, trade tracker Ramesh tweeted below:
"Kabali" is said to have been made with a budget of Rs. 100 crore. The makers are expecting the Tamil movie to become a milestone at the box office. The producer had recently said in an interview that he expects the Rajinikanth-starrer to gross above Rs. 500 crore and break the record of "Baahubali."
Industry experts feel that there is a good chance of "Kabali" setting new benchmarks at the box office. The massive pre-release hype is guaranteeing an earth-shattering opening, resulting in good collection for the Tamil film.
"Kabali" is simultaneously hitting the screens in Tamil and Telugu on July 22. The makers are trying to release the Hindi version of the film on the same day. But reports say that there are chances of the movie being delayed by a week.

Meanwhile, the advance booking for "Kabali" has started in Chennai, Kochi, Bengaluru and many other centres. The pre-booking of tickets has met with a fantastic response and tickets are selling like hotcakes.
Rajinikanth has collaborated with young filmmaker Pa Ranjith in "Kabali." The action-thriller has Radhika Apte in the female lead role.
