Rajinikanth's "Kabali" has created a new record at the Indian box office. The collection of the multilingual movie, which grossed Rs. 87.5 crore on the first day, has remained rock solid on the second day (Saturday) as well.

The movie enjoyed almost full occupancies in the theatres at main centres in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala. The movie has raked in over Rs. 50 crore from these three centres alone in two days.
The tickets for the first weekend were sold well in advance and this ensured that the movie witness nearly full occupancies in theatres in the key centres, say trade experts.

The response has been good in some overseas centres too and in the U.S. the movie has collected over $3.5 million. "#Kabali a Big Money Spinner in North America. Collects $3.5Mn. Thu-Sat. [sic]," Andhra Box Office confirmed the news on Twitter.
The movie has opened to mixed reviews and it has to be seen how it performs post its first weekend. While the audience have liked Rajinikanth, Radhika Apte's performance along with the subject, the slow narration has not gone well with a section of cine goers.
"Kabali" has been written and directed by Pa Ranjith. Rajinikanth has paired up with Radhika Apte in the film, which also stars Dhansika, Kishore, Kalaiyarasan and many others, including a few Malaysian artistes. The film is dubbed and released with the same title in Hindi and Telugu in over 4500 screens. The Malay version will release on July 22.
