The business of Rajinikanth's "Kabali" has slowed down at the overseas box office. The movie was screened at a decent number of theatres in the United States and Malaysia during its third weekend.
"Kabali" collected $35,676 (Rs. 23.85 lakh) from 20 screens in its third weekend at the U.S. box office to take its total tally to $4,442,210 (Rs. 30.41 crore). Industry experts were expecting the Rajinikanth-starrer to beat the record of "Baahubali," which ended its lifetime collection at the U.S. box office at Rs. 55.75 crore.
In Canada, "Kabali" has earned $15,272 (Rs. 7.81 lakh) to take its total tally to $405,079 (Rs. 2.07 crore). The movie has done well in Malaysia by minting MYR 12,247,035 (Rs. 20.22 crore). In its third weekend, it collected MYR 610,694 (Rs. 1.01 crore) from 103 screens.
Coming to the U.K. box office, "Kabali" added £3,545 (Rs. 3.08 lakh) to take its total tally to £383,676 (Rs. 3.36 crore). In Australia, the Rajinikanth-starrer had collected approximately A$525,908 (Rs. 2.66 crore) by the end of its third weekend.
The movie has collected $40,393 (Rs. 26.90 lakh) in Norway and €189,076 (Rs. 1.41 crore) in France.
"Kabali" was released in Tamil and Telugu languages in over 800 screens in 42 countries. The film has been declared a hit in the U.S., Malaysia and Norway.
"Kabali" has grossed over Rs. 100 crore at the overseas box office. The Pa Ranjith-directed film has been produced by Kalaippuli S Thanu, who earned Rs. 225 crore from the pre-release business. The producer made a huge amount from the sales of audio and satellite rights, along with various other deals .
At the domestic box office, "Kabali" has collected over Rs. 196 crore and is moving towards reaching the Rs. 200-crore mark.
