Rajinikanth's star power has worked big time as his latest movie "Kabali" has ended its first weekend on a high note. In the 3-day opening weekend, the multilingual movie has minted over Rs. 200 crore at the worldwide box office. Despite getting mixed reviews from critics, the film has done an earth-shattering collection in the opening weekend .

As per the trade reports, "Kabali" has collected over Rs. 211.25 crore from its three versions. The Rajinikanth-starrer has raked in Rs. 46.75 crore (net: Rs. 46.3 crore) in Tamil Nadu, Rs. 25.4 crore (net: Rs. 18.16 crore) in Andhra Pradesh, Rs. 16.3 crore (net: Rs. 13.2 crore) in Karnataka, Rs. 10.1 crore (net: Rs. 8.4 crore) in Kerala and Rs. 25.85 crore (net: Rs. 19.5 crore) from rest of India to take the domestic collection to Rs. 124.4 crore with a net income of Rs. 109.55 crore.
It has approximately earned Rs. 86.85 from the overseas centres to take its first weekend total to Rs. 211.25 crore.
Industry experts feel that the movie should cross Rs. 300 crore mark in order to gain profits for the distributors and exhibitors. Going by the current trend, the film is expected to collect that much in the next few days.
However, experts also point out that the response that "Kabali" received in the first weekend is primarly because of the hype that was created for the film prior to its release. It has to be seen how the movie will perform from Monday onwards.
Meanwhile, the makers are said to have decided to reduce the run-time of the film after a section of fans criticised the movie for its slow narration.
