Dhanush made a stunning announcement on Monday, Aug. 29. The actor claimed on his Twitter account that he is going to produce Rajinikanth's next movie, which will be directed by none other than "Kabali" creator Pa Ranjith.
"I'm so proud and honoured to announce our production's next film #WunderbarFilms. [sic]" Dhanush tweeted. It was retweeted by Pa Ranjith, who posted, "Magizchi!!!!." It is for the first time that the "Kolaveri di" hitmaker is producing his father-in-law and superstar Rajinikanth's film and the film will take off once Rajinikanth wraps up his forthcoming flick "2.0."
Wunderbar Films has churned out a lot of successful movies, including "Ethir Neechal," "Velaiyilla Pattathari" and "Naanum Rowdydhaan."
It is now being reported that Pa Ranjith is carrying his "Kabali" story forward and the forthcoming movie will be a sequel to the recent hit Tamil movie. But there is no official confirmation in this regard. However, Dhanush's tweet had the background music of "Kabali," which is being taken as a confirmation of the film being the second part of "Kabali."
Pa Ranjith has now joined the list of directors like KS Ravikumar, Shankar, P Vasu and Suresh Krishna, who have worked with Rajinikanth more than once.
Coming to "Kabali," it was made on a budget of Rs. 100 crore. The movie was simultaneously released in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi languages. However, only the Tamil version turned out to be a money spinner at the box office.
"Kabali" has done well in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, the U.S., the U.K. and Malaysia. The worldwide gross collection of the film is said to be above Rs. 350 crore.
