Director Gokul's Tamil movie Kashmora (Kaashmora), which is dubbed and released in Telugu, stars Karthi, Nayanthara, Sri Divya. It has got mixed reviews and good ratings from Telugu critics.
Kashmora is a dark fantasy film and Gokul has written the story and screenplay for the movie, which revolves around the story of a crook, Kaashmora (Karthi), who claims to be an exorcist. He cheats several people and runs away from the city. But an evil spirit of dead warrior Raj Naik (Karthi) takes him to an abandoned bungalow, which has a history of 700 years. What happens next forms the crux of the movie.
Gokul has chosen an interesting concept for Kashmora and weaved a engaging screenplay, which is a nice blend of horror comedy, fantasy and suspense elements. He has made a wonderful effort in linking the current era with the ancient fantasy element. However, the film is lengthy, slow in parts and trimming some scenes could have made the film even better watch, say the Telugu critics.
Karthi has played two roles in Kashmora and he has done justice to both roles. His performance is the highlight of the movie. Actress Nayanthara and Sri Divya, who have played the female, have done good jobs. Supporting artistes Vivek, Sharath Lohitashwa, Madhusudhan Rao, Siddharth Vipin and Jangiri Madhumitha are also assets of the film, say the critics.
SR Prakashbabu and SR Prabhu have bankrolled Kashmora and they have got brilliant production values, which are on par with Hollywood standards. VFX works, background score, picturisation, art direction and costume designs are the attractions on the technical front, add the Telugu critics.
We bring you some Telugu critics' verdict and ratings for the film. Continue to see them in Kashmora movie review roundup:
India Glitz Ratings: 3
Kaashmora, touted as a dark fantasy, turns out to be an overcooked comedy. A hotchpotch of genres, it loses the opportunity to deliver a serious-minded horror-period-fantasy involving a whole family. It's not as if the comedy holds ground as it overstays its welcome. Karthi's good performance is noteworthy. The visuals work.

Kashmora is quite a different film from the routine and outdated commercial flicks that are coming out these days. Karthi's performance and decent comedy are huge assets of this horror comedy with good production values. If you ignore the excessive length and a few glitches here and there, Kashmora is a time pass entertainer which can be given a shot this Diwali weekend.
Gulte Ratings: 2.75
Kashmora has few genuine laughs and a story to tell. Also Karthi excelled as an actor. On the flip side it is a flat film without any impactful moments. A better second half would have helped its prospects at the box office. For now Kashmora is an average film that can be watched if you have nothing better to do over the weekend.
