After being part of a series of action and comedy films, Karthi decided to take a break from the usual roles and signed Kaashmora, a dark fantasy made on a huge budget. Gokul, who had earlier made films like Rowthiram and Idharkuthane Aasaipattai Balakumara, has directed the latest flick, bankrolled by SR Prabhu.
Nayanthara and Sri Divya are the two female leads in Kaashmora. Interestingly, the film, despite having two heroines, will not have romance, which makes it a different one from the lot. Karthi will be seen as warlord Raj Nayak and a wizard. Nayanthara plays the character of princess Ratna Mahadevi. Sri Divya will be seen as an investigatove journalist, who does research on supernatural powers.
Vivekh, Sharath Lohitashwa, Madhusudhan Rao, Siddharth Vipin and others are in the cast. The movie has Santhosh Narayanan's music, Om Prakash's cinematography and VJ Sabu Joseph's editing.
As per the makers, Kaashmora is a multi-genre film. The movie has a right mix of comedy and action. The major attraction of the movie is said to be the 80-minute VFX portion, which promises to be a visual treat for the audience.
The impressive part of the story is that the unit has completed the movie in record pace. Generally, the shooting of fantasy films consume a lot of time. But to avoid delays, the makers erected 17 sets in and around Chennai to make simultaneous filming possible.
Kaashmora, which is made on a budget of Rs 55 crore, will simultaneously release in Tamil and Telugu in 1700 screens worldwide. In Tamil Nadu alone, it will see the light of the day in over 450 screens.
The movie will be clashing with Dhanush's Kodi, a political thriller which has Trisha Krishnan and Anupama Parameswaran in the female leads.
