Most fans would remember Dana as a member of K-pop girl band The Grace. However, the singer revealed a little known fact about her. According to Dana, she used to be the vocal trainer for Girls' Generation members YoonA and Seohyun. Apart from this, she also trained former f(x) member Sulli and former SNSD member Jessica Jung.
In a recent interview with DJ Park Myung Soo on KBS Cool FM's "Park Myung Soo's Radio Show," Dana spoke at length about her experience as a vocal trainer. The singer, who is an SM Entertainment artiste, said that her students belonged to the entertainment agency's popular girl bands Girls' Generation and f(x).
Dana also revealed that she was a very patient teacher and encouraged emerging artistes. When asked if she ever got angry with her students, she said, "I don't get mad at them. I don't let them notice that they are falling behind. "
So how did she help them get better? The vocal trainer gave personal tips on how to make their voice heard. "For example, Jessica had the habit of not being able to project. So I fixed it by teaching her to sing pushing her back forward. Afterwards, Jessica was able to find her own colour," Allkpop quoted Dana as saying.
Dana's students Jung, Seohyun and Sulli have gone on to establish their identity in the K-pop scene, film industry and even in theatre. Recently, Seohyun landed a role in the musical "Mamma Mia," in which she is set to the play the role of Sophie.
"While practising, I loved the atmosphere, full of happy energy," a Kpopstarz article quoted her as saying,
"Mamma Mia" will be staged between Wednesday, Feb. 24 to Saturday, Jun. 4, 2016. Tickets are priced between 60,000 to 140,000 won The Korea Times reports.
