Actress Charmme Kaur (also spelled as Charmy or Charmi) says her upcoming movie "Jyothi Lakshmi" revolves around the story of a sex worker, but does not feature any sex scene.
"Jyothi Lakshmi" is a female-centric romance drama, which has been written and directed by Puri Jagannadh.
Charmme Kaur also debuts as a producer with the movie.
Charmme Kaur plays the titular role of a sex worker in the film, which is slated to be released in theatres across the globe on 12 June.
The actress, who has pinned lots of hope on the movie, is currently busy promoting it.
The actress shared her thoughts about the film and her role, given it has aroused curiosity among many movie buffs.
"It's about a sex worker, but there'll be no sex," she told IANS.
"It's a challenging role. I worked extremely hard and lost 11 kg. It's a strong woman-centric film and audiences will experience heroinism for the first time," Charmme added.
She then described her character in the movie.
"My character is very happy, fun-loving, naughty and romantic. It's about a man who falls in love with a prostitute. How the woman changes for the man she loves and the impact her past has on their relationship is showcased in the film."
Charmme Kaur also debuts as a producer with the movie.
"The kick I enjoyed as I producer was something I've never experienced in many years. This story was first narrated to me six years ago, but it took time to materialise. Puri suggested that I produce it. The opportunity helped me to understand the nitty-gritty of film production," she said.
She also said a sequel to the movie is being planned. "We decided on the idea for a sequel. Depending on the response to 'Jyothi Lakshmi', we'll take the call on making on the announcement about the sequel," she said.
