Englands Justin Rose said he has a great chance of winning the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai, which starts on Thursday (19 November). Speaking at a press conference on the eve of the tournament, Rose said he came to Dubai with one purpose: to take home the Race to Dubai title.
My whole goal was to come into this tournament with a chance that if I win then I have a great chance to win it, he told reporters. I actually dont know the maths on it... but the way I see it, if I win this tournament Id be very unlucky not to win the Race to Dubai so for the most part Ive done my job of getting to this point in the season with a great chance to win it all.
The 2013 US Open champion and world number seven has eight European Tour titles and is hoping to add one more before the end of the season. Rose is competing with two of golfs best for the Race to Dubai title, world number three Rory McIlroy and world number six Henrik Stenson. All three have a good chance at grabbing the title though Rose is further behind than his two rivals.
I would say me, Rory and Henrik, all of us have played incredibly well at this venue the last few years, so you know theres a pretty fair chance that one of us is going to be there on Sunday, he said.
Obviously were all hoping its going to be the right guy from our own point of view. But theres definitely going to be a lot of challenge this week and whoever wins is going to still have to play their best golf, he added.
