Troubled teen sensation Justin Bieber was arrested in Miami Beach early Thursday on charges of driving under the influence (DUI) and drag racing in a Lamborghini, the Miami Herald reported.
Miami Beach Police Chief Raymond Martinez told the daily that test showed "Baby" singer was under the influence of drugs and didn't have a valid license. Bieber apparently told the police that he had beer, anti-depressants pills and had been smoking marijuana all day.
Spokesman Sgt. Bobby Hernandez told 7 News (WSVN.com) that "The officer observed the signs of someone who was under the influence of drugs or alcohol." Bieber was taken to the Miami Beach Police station and given a breathalyzer after failing the field sobriety test.
The pop star's entourage apparently created a drag strip for Bieber by using their cars to block traffic on Pine Tree Drive at 26th Street, a residential area, at 4:30 a.m, according to Miami Herald.
"When the cars are going that fast, it takes awhile to catch up," Martinez told the daily, adding that the singer "resisted arrest without violence." The police went on to say that the singer uttered f-words at them when he was stopped.
According to WSVN, two cars - yellow Lamborghini and red Ferrari - involved in the race were taken to Beach Towing. Bieber was in the driver's seat of the Lamborghini and the Ferrari was driven by R&B artist Khalil Amir Sharieff, who was also arrested on charges of DUI.
Justin Bieber has been charged of DUI, driving with an expired license and resisting arrest without violence. He will be taken to jail for processing and is expected to appear before the court on Thursday.
The 19-year-old singer has landed in a series of trouble of late, including accusation that he and his friends threw eggs at his neighbor's home in Los Angeles, which led the police to search his home. He also spent $75K in a Miami strip club a few days ago, according to TMZ.
