Shia LaBeouf lives a large part of his life in the media eye and clearly has no problem blasting those in the industry who he does not like – the recent target being Steven Spielberg. The actor/performance artist recently told Variety that he is not a big fan of the ET filmmaker, who he opines has a disregard for artistic integrity.
You get there, and you realize youre not meeting the Spielberg you dream of, LaBeouf said. Youre meeting a different Spielberg, who is in a different stage in his career. Hes less a director than he is a f***ing company.
The American Honey stars opinions are a result of the numerous films directed by Spielberg, which the 30-year-old has acted in, some of which include Transformers, Disturbia, Eagle Eye and Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull.
I dont like the movies that I made with Spielberg, LaBeouf said. The only movie that I liked that we made together was Transformers one.
The Fury actor also seems to have taken offence to advice that the director gave him – not to read what the media wrote about him. Theres no way to not do that, LaBeouf said.
For me to not read that means I need to not take part in society. The generation previous to mine didnt have the immediate response. If you were Mark Hamill, you could lie to yourself. You could find the pockets of joy, and turn a blind eye to the s— over there, he added.
