Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed striker Daniel Sturridge will be out of action at least another 10 days. The 26-year-old forward has not appeared for the Reds since their 2-0 loss against Newcastle United on 6 December and Klopp has revealed the striker still remains some way off a return to first-team action.
Sturridge has barely featured for Liverpool since Klopp was appointed manager in October, but the German has promised he will not rush the England man back into action too soon. He also revealed Sturridge has made good progress with his hamstring injury over the last four days.
I cant rush the situation, he said during a pre-match press conference ahead of Liverpools game against Norwich City, according to The Mirror. The last four days were really good. He still needs time. Nothing new. After 10 days we will see how he is and decide.
Klopp explained that he was reluctant to risk aggravating Sturridges injury any further by rushing him back into action. Hes not with the team at the moment, thats right. But we have enough games this season when we hopefully can use him but not, if nothing happens, for at least the next 10 days, he told the clubs official website.
You cant be nearly fit, then playing, then injured again, then nearly fit, then playing, then injured again, then during training something like injured again, and then you say after five days come on to pick the day you get him and then he gets the next injury.
Meanwhile, Klopp also revealed midfielder Adam Lallana is a doubt for Liverpools game against Norwich on 23 January because of a minor injury problem. Adam Lallana is a doubt. He has a little issue. We will have to see, he shared.
Liverpool currently occupy ninth position in the Premier League. The Reds are eights points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur following their 1-0 loss against Manchester United last weekend.
