Vijay Sethupathi's latest flick Junga has got a fantastic start at the Chennai box office. The pre-release hype and the great promotional strategies carried out by the team has led to solid box results in its first weekend.
In the first three days, Junga raked in Rs 1.63 crore from 270 shows. Considering the hype around the movie, the single screens and multiplexes preferred Junga to other new releases for screening which had also helped the Vijay Sethupathi starrer to do decent business.
Hollywood movie Mission: Impossible – Fallout is in second place at the Chennai box office. The film has earned Rs 99.37 lakh from 189 shows in three days, proving once again that Hollywood movies have a good market in the capital city of Tamil Nadu.
Trisha Krishnan's Mohini got an average opening in Chennai by collecting Rs 35.93 lakh from 141 shows. It is followed by Karthi's Kadaikutty Singam, which has collected Rs 34.76 lakh from 147 shows to take its final tally to Rs 5.34 crore.
Telugu film Saakshyam collected Rs 7.53 lakh from 30 shows in its first weekend.
Tamizh Padam 2, which has earned a blockbuster status in Chennai box office, has collected Rs 6.29 lakh from 48 shows, taking its total tally to Rs 4.43 crore.
The total collection for Bollywood movie Dhadak dropped after it garnered only Rs 2.88 lakh from 18 shows to take its total tally to Rs 58.41 lakh.
Hollywood movies like Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation and Skycraper are in the last two positions by collecting Rs 1.82 lakh from 12 shows (total: Rs 48.31 lakh) and Rs 1.04 lakh from 9 shows (Rs 66.57 lakh), respectively.
