IBTimes UK film critic Amy West gives casts her eyes at the biggest new movie releases coming to cinemas this June.
The Nice Guys
First up, we have The Nice Guys, an action-packed crime buddy comedy starring Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe. Directed by Lethal Weapons Shane Black, the film follows an unlikely pair of private eyes, who become embroiled in a world of murder and deceit, after they start investigating the apparent suicide of a fading porn star.
Gosling delivers his most energetic, powerhouse performance yet while Crowe bounces off of him hilariously. Set against the highly-stylised backdrop of 1970s Los Angeles, its not to be missed.
The Conjuring 2
Our next choice is The Conjuring 2, which sees horror master James Wan once again direct Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga, as they reprise their roles as real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren.
This time round, the pair travel to London, England, in order to help a single mother whose daughter is being terrorised by a malicious poltergeist. And as you may have guessed, spooky goings on ensue.
Independence Day: Resurgence
Lastly, we have another sequel, only this one has been a whopping 20 years in the making. Independence Day: Resurgence follows on from the 1996 original, which saw Jeff Goldblum and Will Smith teaming up to save the world from an alien invasion, only now the extra-terrestrials are back for some well-prepared revenge.
While Goldblum reprises his role from the first film, sadly Smith isnt back for the follow-up. However, Bill Pullman returns as President Whitmore and sci-fi lovers will find a new worthy hero in the form of Hunger Games star Liam Hemsworth.
