"Pretty Woman" actress Julia Roberts turns 48 on Wednesday, 28 October, 2015.
Roberts is married to cinematographer Danny Moder and they have three children -- twins Phinnaeus and Hazel, and Henry.
Here are a few other interesting facts about Roberts:
Both her parents were actors who conducted workshops for performers until they divorced in 1971.
When she was a child, Roberts used to bite off her toe nails instead of clipping them.
Roberts, who is fond of animals, wanted to become a veterinarian when she was a child. But she then went on to study journalism, and later took up acting as a profession.
Roberts has been linked to a number of her co-stars. When she was just 19 years old, she started dating Liam Neeson, who was over 30 at the time. However, their relationship did not last long. She then went on to date her "Steel Magnolias" co-star Dylan McDermott, with whom she was briefly engaged. Her other significant love interests included Jason Patric, Matthew Perry, Benjamin Bratt, and Lyle Lovett.
Roberts wasn't the first actress to have been offered the role of Vivian in "Pretty Woman". Meg Ryan's loss turned out to be Roberts' gain.
Ironically, Julia turned down the lead role in "Sleepless in Seattle" and the role later went to Ryan.
Besides her gorgeous looks, Roberts is known for having a potty mouth. When Tom Hanks was once asked how he plans to curb Roberts from swearing, this is what he told HollywoodLife.
"I'm not going to [control Julia's swearing]. I'll just let her say whatever she wants and we'll fix it in post!"
Although she is left-handed, Roberts learned to write using her right hand for the movie "Erin Brockovich".
