In the wake of the Ashley Madison scandal, "19 Kids and Counting" star Josh Duggar on Thursday released a statement admitting to being a hypocrite and confessed to having cheated on his wife Anna Duggar for several years.
As reported earlier, Josh maintained multiple Ashley Madison accounts with the sole purpose of cheating on his wife.
"I have been the biggest hypocrite ever," Josh said in a statement posted on the family website. "While espousing faith and family values, I have secretly over the last several years been viewing pornography on the internet and this became a secret addiction and I became unfaithful to my wife."
The father of four also noted that he was ashamed of the double life he has been living. The last few years, while Josh was publicly fighting against immorality in the country, "I was hiding my own personal failings," he admitted.
As for whether his wife Anna will leave him now that Josh has confessed to straying, a source close to the situation said divorce is not something that will be discussed.
The source also told People magazine that it would come as no surprise if Anna tries to absorb some of the blame for Josh's infidelity.
"Maybe not publicly, ever, but privately, there will be some suggestion of whether or not she should have been more aware of the pressures Josh was under, of the issues he was facing, and how she could have better counseled him or helped him," said the source.
"Anna will not leave him," continued the source. "As with her in-laws, she is turning more to her faith than ever. She and Josh are probably praying around the clock right now, I would assume."
This is the second scandal to hit Josh this year. A few months back it was revealed that Josh molested at least five minors, including his sisters, as a teen. Following the scandal, TLC cancelled their family reality show "19 Kids and Counting."
