Jose Mourinho has been heavily linked with Manchester United ever since the turn of the year. There were many reports on social media saying the Portuguese manager has already inked a pre-contract agreement with the Red Devils.
Inter Milan director Bedy Moratti had lunch Sunday with Mourinho and his brother in Milan. Reporters thronged former Inter director Massimo Moratti's sister and asked about Mourinho's future.
She said Mourinho, who led Inter to a treble in the 2010 season, is missed at the club, but he is going to replace Van Gaal very soon.
"He's missed as a person, but right now he's happy, he's going to Manchester," the Inter director was quoted as saying by The Guardian.
Louis van Gaal has struggled to bring back glory to Manchester United. The Dutchman has been criticised for the team's current run of form. Even former club legends have spoken about his inability to make the players play the kind of football United were famous for.
"Given LVG loads of time. The team have gone backwards since his arrival. The style of football has no resemblance to @manutd at all, (sic)" former England and Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand said on Twitter.
The boring football tag has become attached to this side and cannot be shrugged off that easily until and unless they bring changes to their style of football. United recently lost to FC Midtyjylland in a Europa League fixture and that made things worse for Van Gaal.
Critics believe Mourinho can bring that change and make United play just the kind of football they should have played since the start of the season.
Van Gaal spent a huge amount to rope in players like Memphis Depay, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Morgan Schneiderlin, Matteo Darmian and Anthony Martial. But the result has not been as expected.
If the former Chelsea manager replaces Van Gaal at the Old Trafford, he will have a huge task on his hands. If he can bring back the club its lost glory, there will be nothing better than the smiles and cheers of happy fans.
