Singer John Legend has expressed his disappointment with long-time friend and rapper Kanye West, after the latter paid a personal visit to president-elect Donald Trump. West created frenzy after he visited Trump on December 13 to discuss "life" and "multicultural issues" and shared a few things about the meeting on his Twitter handle.
Meanwhile, during a recent interview Legend slammed the whole meeting as a publicity stunt, and said that he was shocked and disappointed with his longtime friend and collaborator. "I don't think it's impossible to talk to Trump about issues, but I won't be used as a publicity stunt. I think West was a publicity stunt," he explained.
The Love Me Now singer added, "'I'm pretty disappointed with Kanye that he says he would have voted for Trump. I think the things he's promised to do have been very concerning for a lot of people, and for Kanye to support that message is very disappointing."
West, who was earlier admitted in the psychiatric unit of a hospital in Los Angeles, saw a lot of support from numerous artists including Legend. The artist said that he was rooting for West and hoping for his speedy recovery.
However, the equation between Legend and West might change after the controversial meeting with Trump.
West adressed the media soon after the meeting with Trump, but chose remain silent on the details discussed. "We've been friends for a long time. We discussed life," Trump spoke on his behalf. After much persuasion, West commented that he was there only for a picture. West went on to tweet and inform his fans about the meeting:
Kanye West:
I wanted to meet with Trump today to discuss multicultural issues.
These issues included bullying, supporting teachers, modernizing curriculums, and violence in Chicago.
I feel it is important to have a direct line of communication with our future President if we truly want change.
