John Abraham has confirmed that he will be stepping into the shoes of Aamir Khan for Sarfarosh 2. The actor said that it will be different from the original 1999 action-drama that had the Dangal actor, Sonali Bendre and Naseeruddin Shah in lead roles.
"John Mathew Matthan and I are co-producing the film. We are still working on the script but yes it's happening with me. We plan to go on floors next year. He is probably the only director whose house I went to after seeing 'Sarfarosh' and said 'Man what a film'," John Abraham was quoted as saying by PTI.
When he was asked about being apprehensive about signing the film, which featured Aamir in the lead, John said, "I'm in fact very excited. I love Aamir Khan, I'm his big fan. It's a challenge but it's a different character, different story but the ethos is the same. It's going to be very exciting."
Directed by John Matthew Matthan, Sarfarosh, which chronicled the story of an Indian police officer's quest to stop cross-border terrorism.
On the work front, John is currently busy with his upcoming projects Satyamev Jayate, which is releasing on August 15 including Batla House, and RAW: Romeo Akbar Walter.
Talking about Batla House, John said, "'Batla House' will be the most explosive film you've seen. It'll show how polarised the world is and it's straight in its face. If we accept 'Batla House' it'll be the most successful film."
The film will tell the story of the police encounter that occurred in September 2008 against Indian Mujahideen terrorists in the Batla House, a locality in Jamia Nagar in Delhi. It will be directed by Nikkhil Advani.
Abraham recently shot for the first schedule of RAW: Romeo Akbar Walter, directed by Robbie Grewal. The actor said there will be 18 different looks of his in the spy-thriller and the shoot was "pretty intense."
