Television actor Ravi Bhatia, who played the role of Salim in popular show "Jodha Akbar," is all set to debut in an international TV series. The actor has been roped in for an Indonesian TV series titled "Cinta Di Langit Taj Mahal" ("Love In The Air of Taj Mahal"), where he will be seen playing a superhero.
"I am really excited, because I am playing a superhero on screen for the first time. My character has a variety of shades - from a lovestruck to a lovelorn prince, who then turns evil. Eventually, he becomes a better person and utilises his superpowers for the well being of people." IANS quoted Ravi as saying.
Ravi was initially roped in to play the role of a secret agent. But the makers later decided to revamp the storyline from a crime-based series into a supernatural love story.
The TV series is based on a popular Indonesian folk story of a princess named Roro Jonggrang.
Ravi will be seen playing the role of a prince named Raja, who has some superpowers. Raja falls in love with Roro Jonggrang from a neighbouring kingdom. However, after being cursed by a cruel prince, Roro turns into a stone statue, which leaves Raja shattered.
"Cinta Di Langit Taj Mahal" is likely to go on air in the second week of April and will be telecast in several countries across the world.
In other news, Ravi made headlines last month when rumours of his breakup with his "Jodha Akbar" co-star Heena Parmar aka Anarkali surfaced. Rumour had it Ravi, who moved to Indonesia for the TV series, was unable to devote time to the relationship. Also, Heena's reported closeness with a producer was said to be one of the reasons behind the breakup.
Although Heena had confirmed in an interview with the Times of India that she and Ravi are no longer together, she refuted rumours of her relationship with a producer. Ravi, on the other hand, mentioned that Heena was just a friend.
