Zee TV's popular period drama "Jodha Akbar" is likely to see a major change in the lead cast.
Ravi Bhatia, who plays Salim in the show, could be replaced by another actor, according to reports.
While the show has been essentially revolving around the lead actors Rajat Tokas, who plays Jalal/Akbar and Paridhi Sharma aka Jodha, the plot of Salim and Anarkali (Heena Parmar) is expected to get more attention in the coming days.
Although viewers love the chemistry between Ravi and Heena, reports suggest that the makers are looking for a new face to replace Ravi.
The reason for the replacement is said to be Ravi's failure to satisfy the makers with his acting chops, resulting in their looking for a replacement who would raise the TRPs for the show.
"A lot of expectations have been riding high on Ravi and with the makers not satisfied with his act, they have decided to get a new face to add spice and bring back the falling numbers. The creatives are planning a short leap, wherein Salim would age and thus a new face will take the stride further." a source told Telly Chakkar.
However, Ravi has refuted the news, claiming it to be a rumour.
Chetan Hansraj, who played the role of Adam Khan, quit the show few months ago. The actor took to Twitter to express his disappointment and said that he was lied about the role.
"I Quit the show people was very unhappy with how my Role Panned out ..
RIP Adham/Haider Khan... Time to move on in life," he tweeted.
"Jodha Akbar" is a sixteenth century love story and a political marriage between Mughal emperor Akbar and Rajput princess Jodha.
