TV actor Rajat Tokas, who charmed all with his intense role of Akbar in the popular show "Jodha Akbar", is all set to play yet another powerful character in a new show.
According to a Telly Chakkar report, the actor has teamed up with Ekta Kapoor for the new historical drama "Chandragupta Maurya," in which he will play the lead role.
The report further stated Shweta Basu Prasad of "Makdee" fame has reportedly been roped in to play the female lead opposite Rajat. Shweta will play the role of Chandragupta's wife Nandini. The show will apparently be aired on Zee TV.
The fresh pair â€" Rajat and Shweta â€" will surely be interesting to watch, considering both are talented actors with a huge fan following.
A few years ago, Imagine TV had also aired a show titled "Chandragupta Maurya", but it was taken off air.
In other news, Rajat was recently seen in a cameo in the supernatural show "Naagin," which has Mouni Roy, Arjun Bijlani and Adaa Khan in the lead. Rajat played the role of an ichhadhaari nevla (a shape-shifting mongoose), which was completely different from his previous role.
On the other hand, Shweta was last seen on "Darr Sabko Lagta Hai." The talented actress had bagged the National award for best child artiste for the Bollywood film "Makdee" (2002), and also played a key role in "Iqbal" (2005).
