Warner Bros. has finally unveiled the title and release date of Joaquin Phoenix's Joker origin movie. Produced under Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow production, the new film is simply titled Joker and is scheduled to release on October 4, 2019.
According to the report, in the upcoming Joker film, Joaquin Phoenix will portray the character Arthur Fleck, a struggling comedian who returns to Gotham to take care of his ill mother Penny. Upon Fleck's arrival to Gotham, he will discover the city on the edge of getting completely ruined.
As per That Hashtag Show, this will ultimately lead Fleck to emerge as a sadistic clown. The movie is being described as an "exploration of a man disregarded by society [that] is not only a gritty character study but also a broader cautionary tale."
Not only this, it is also speculated that Arthur Fleck and Bruce Wayne share an immensely complicated history in the upcoming film. That Hashtag Show further adds that Bruce's father, Thomas Wayne will, in fact, be Arthur's father. Penny is described as a very attractive lady who once was obsessed with her employer, Thomas Wayne.
According to comic books and experts in the field, apart from Arthur Fleck, Jack Napier is also one of several names given to the Joker. According to the previously published comics, Napier used to work in Keaton films.
From the beginning, it was made clear that Jack Napier will die after a few appearances in different comic book editions. During the early days, Joker was nothing but a prankster. But it was the early 70s that showed how he started to become Batman's archenemy.
It would be interesting to see how the director and the writers will bring this iconic character to life for one more time. In Batman: Killing Joke, Joker was shown a stand-up comedian and a former chemical engineer who will eventually become the sinister clown, terrorizing the citizens of Gotham. In Its Joker Time, Joker's childhood was shown in which he was abused by his mother and her boyfriend.
The Joker film is directed by Todd Phillips and is one of the many films featuring Joker in the current time. As recently reported, Jared Leto is all set to appear in his own standalone film. He is also set to reprise his role of Joker in the Harley Quinn's solo film, Suicide Squad 2, and Birds of Prey.
